Youth Leadership Conference
The Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) on Asian and Pacific Islander Health is designed to inspire high school students from across the United States to become the leaders of tomorrow and teach them the practical skills necessary to achieve that goal.
YLC is a four-day conference hosted at Stanford University by the Asian Liver Center where students will learn about the fight against hepatitis B (HBV), develop outreach education strategies, and gain insight about how to become an effective leader. During the intensive four days, participants attend lectures with prominent Asian American leaders, hear insights from deans from the Stanford School of Medicine and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and participate in workshops designed to foster health education practice, health promotion strategy, and professional development skills.
One of the unique features of YLC is the Team Challenge, where conference attendees work in teams to design their own outreach education plan from conception through implementation, presenting it in front of the ALC staff, YLC students, and parents on the final day of the conference. Each year, students take the skills and knowledge that they learned at YLC and create effective outreach programs and clubs in their own local communities.
