Asian Liver Center

Cerena Chen

Senior, Archbishop Mitty High School
Cerena Chen, a senior at Archbishop Mitty, is thrilled to be fighting hepatitis B with the JRYC for her second year! She feels inspired by her friends, the beauty captured in photography, and quotes from Alice in Wonderland. Her summers are dedicated to lab research (the best times of her life) and travel (planes and subways are awesome). If you ever see her around, do stop and say hi!

Evaline Cheng

Junior, Lynbrook High School
Along with her infatuation with the JRYC, Evaline (pronounced like Evelyn) loves to laugh hysterically, play games, and trick people with marine animal themed high fives. Her present goals are to learn more about herself and the world around her, to stumble upon a scientific discovery, and most importantly, to eradicate hepatitis B. She is excited to work with all of the amazing people on the council once again!

Patrick Domingo

Junior, Junipero Serra High School
Patrick Domingo is currently a junior at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo. This is his first year on the JRYC. He is a junior member of Operation Health Aid, a freelance photographer for the school newspaper and yearbook. He's a very sociable, yet “chill” type of guy who loves to feed his curiosity. He loves boxing, basketball, football, photography, and he sings in his high school chorus.

Esther Han

Junior, Gunn High School
Esther Han seems like one of many stressed juniors at Gunn, but she is vibrant like a tie-dye shirt, except not as gaudy. When not overloading her brain with schoolwork and working as the Yearbook Copy Editor, she likes singing band music and eating frozen yogurt. She loves everything green, including the Jade Ribbon! By working hard as a dedicated JRYC member, she hopes to help globally eradicate HBV.

Katherine Hsu

Senior, Cupertino High School
Katherine, who writes poems, stories, and songs about everything that happens to her, is a very excitable person. She loves being the editor of her school newspaper, volunteering at OSF, planning outreach activities and campaigns for Student Doctors Club, tutoring disadvantaged kids, and going green. The late professor Randy Pausch is her hero and she aspires to become a novelist / pediatrician. Also, she can’t make decisions, so her toenails are painted 5 different colors.

Michelle Kang

Senior, St. Francis High School
Michelle Kang is a happy senior at St. Francis High School, and she is extremely excited to start her second year with the JRYC! At SF, she is involved with newspaper, mock trial, and science and engineering club, but nothing compares to the sense of community in the awesome ALC family. She hopes to further the ALC’s cause this year, and she hopes that you’ll join her, too!

Amanjit Kaur

Senior, James Logan High School
Amanjit Kaur is truly an over achiever. In addition to taking part in JRYC and a full load of AP classes, she also participates in Cross Country, Track, Leo Club, Pre-Med Club, and various other activities. By taking on what some say is an unbelievable amount of work, Amanjit has no time to just sit around and do nothing. However, when she does happen to slack off she watches football, talks to friends online, listens to music, or goes shopping. Amanjit is notoriously known for her extensive collection of scarves and her passion for fashion. She truly believes in being a well rounded individual in life not just for academic purposes.

Daniel Ki

Sophomore, Monta Vista High School
Daniel Ki is a proud, second year member of the Jade Ribbon Youth Council. Because hepatitis B claimed his grandfather’s life and the lives of many more people, Daniel hopes to see the eradication of hepatitis B someday. Besides the JRYC, he fences, is Sophomore Class President, and debates. He enjoys hanging out with his friends, listening to various genres of music (death metal not included), and rooting for the SF Giants and SJ Sharks.

Daniel Kim

Senior, The Harker School
A senior at The Harker School, Daniel Kim is a very busy child. While striving to excel academically, Daniel actively trains for judo, practices the viola, and, above all, tries to find time for his friends. Despite all this, however, his commitment to the Jade Ribbon Campaign remains strong: Working with the youth council, Daniel wants to work towards the global eradication of HBV.

Hamin Kim

Sophomore, California High School
Hamin Kim, called Sarah by her friends, attends California High School. She is an energetic girl who loves to read anything. She also loves to tell jokes and laugh with her friends. She is currently the Vice President of the Future Medical Associates club at her high school and plans to charge to San Francisco China Town with her club to inform the Asian Americans there about Hepatitis B. She works hard, especially at night, and is bounding with crazy and creative ideas that results in unusual but effective ways of doing things.

Yvi Le

Junior, Evergreen Valley High School
Yvi Le is a junior at Evergreen Valley High School, and definitely has a lot on her plate. Her life involves juggling academics, clubs, hospital volunteering, and her varsity position on the badminton team. Still, she has time for the very exciting JYRC! Yvi also believes in living life to its fullest, so she laughs everyday and has a spring in her step. The simplest things make her smile, like late night AIM conversations and Wikipedia-ing interesting things.

Serena Shih

Senior, Mission San Jose High School
Serena is a dedicated volunteer of Friends of Children with Special Needs and Washington Hospital. Currently, she is the President of Mission's Club LiveRight, the first and only hepatitis B awareness club on campus. She never really has any free time, but during the time that she wastes everyday, Serena likes to listen to music, chat with friends online, and take very long naps.

Elisabeth Sum

Senior, Monte Vista High School
A senior at Monte Vista High School, Elisabeth Sum is a bit of a perfectionist with small handwriting. She loves to travel, especially to her second home Hong Kong. Drawing and writing are her life, never leaving home without her camera or notebook. But her true passion is medicine, that and Asian singers/dramas. Elisabeth's guiding philosophy is "be different" and believes in and practices spontaneity each and every moment.

Jon Wang

Sophomore, Piedmont High School
Jonathan Wang is a sophomore at Piedmont High School. He is a sectional and nationally ranked Junior tennis player. Jon has an aggressive serve and volley game.
